Premier League

As the table makes clear, I got 2 results right and 0 perfect scores! This is my worst round ever, and is atrocious. Here is my write up for the midweek games – perhaps I will give some reasonable predictions this time. Tuesday 27th November 2012 Sunderland vs QPR (19:45) This will be Harry Redknapp’s first game in charge of QPR having watched them lose 3-1 at the weekend against Man Utd. It will be tough for him to get QPR performing as they should with their great players after such a long bad spell, but I think this is a winnable game. Sunderland come into this off a 4-2 home thumping at the hands of West Brom, so will want to… more

This weekend I got only 4 predictions right (at least one was a perfect score!). This is because a lot of outright favourites lost. Anyway, on with the next set of predictions and hopefully I will have a better week! Saturday 24th November 2012 Sunderland vs West Brom (12:45) Sunderland managed to get back to winning ways in their last game, in a tricky match away against Fulham, this will possibly give them some confidence however West Brom are flying high! West Brom’s incredible form has continued as they managed to beat Chelsea 2-1, despite being dominated. I think this has potential to be tough for both sides, and will come down to whoever is form on the day. Prediction:… more

Everyday items

Here are a small collection of poems that I have written about day to day items and sights, which aim to provoke deeperthought, and interpretations of all levels. Feel free to comment below with your own thoughts – or to suggest other concepts/items I can write about. The Curtain Lonely I am, all creased up and wrinkled, I block out the unwanted. Where are my thanks   Half Eaten Pizza Why pick me when I am too big, The task is too large for one person. Have no fear in asking for help, You’re only human.   The Tree It is almost winter, Every waking moment I spend waving to the passers by, I am unrecognisable – why am I… more

Last weekend’s predictions saw me get 6 correct results, 2 of which were perfect scores. This is better than the previous attempt, but still isn’t good enough – so once again I will talk about the weekend’s fixtures giving my prediction of the final scores. Saturday 17th November 2012 Arsenal vs Tottenham (12:45) The second London derby in a row for Arsenal, and once again it is against a side who are right next to them in the table. This time Arsenal go into the match being the team lowest in the league, one point off Tottenham, who have lost their last 2 league games. Last season Arsenal won this fixture 5-2, and with the amount of goals in these sides matches… more

My predictions for last weekend’s games saw me getting 4 correct results, 2 of which were perfect scores. This seems like an awful week, however I think it is merely a blip, with some strange results, and some very tight games. Tottenham losing to Wigan, and Man City drawing with West Ham most noticeably. I am however pleased to have predicted the Man Utd score bang on, and to also have correctly pointed out that Chelsea would draw with Swansea. Hopefully I will get more correct this week! Saturday 10th November 2012 Arsenal vs Fulham (15:00) This is a big game for the two clubs involved, not only due to the fact that it is a London derby, but also due… more

My predictions from last weekend’s fixtures are above – compared to the actual results I once again did well, getting eight correct results with one being a perfect score. My love of Aston Villa is perhaps why I predicted a win for them against Norwich; now, having looked at the match statistics, it seems they were lucky to even get a draw! I also got the Merseyside derby result wrong, though Liverpool scored a goal in the last few minutes that was disallowed and after further inspection it seems the goal should have stood. Saturday 3rd November 2012 Man Utd vs Arsenal (12:45) Arsenal have been defensively very strong away from home, conceding only three goals in five games. This… more

Here are my predictions from last weekend’s games, alongside the final results. I did very well, predicting 8 correct results, 3 of which were perfect scores. I believe I slipped up on the West Ham game due to overestimating Southampton’s defence, which this season hasn’t been great! As for the Arsenal game, well that’s just a shock result! Saturday 27th October 2012 Aston Villa vs Norwich (12:45) A big game here, between two teams who will both be wary of the relegation zone, and therefore will be wanting a win, to avoid the possibility of slipping into the bottom three. Norwich last weekend pulled off a great win against Arsenal, Aston Villa on the other hand have only got 1 point… more

Andy Murray watch

As we all know, Andy Murray has had a very good 2012 so far, being runner up at Wimbledon followed by winning a gold medal in the men’s singles at the Olympics, and more recently winning his first grand slam, the US Open. All this has led to him leap-frogging Rafael Nadal in the ATP World Tour Rankings, where he currently sits in 3rd place. Since he become the first player representing Great Britain to win the men’s singles US Open in history, his fans have been extremely excited about what more is to come from the 25-year-old Scot, who still has many years left in his tank – especially now he is being coached by Ivan Lendl, former world number… more

The last set of premiership games (6-7 October) saw me predict 5 correct outcomes with 2 perfect results, which is alright but not perfect, so once again I will attempt to predict the upcoming games, offering a little insight into why I have gone for that result. Saturday 20th October Tottenham vs Chelsea (12:45) 5th against 1st in what should be an exciting game involving two teams flying high currently. Tottenham have won their last 4 premiership games in a row, and are also yet to lose at home. Chelsea are yet to lose all season and are looking formidable in front of goal. I think the outcome of this game will be decided by something impressive, probably ending up… more

Saturday 6th October 2012 Manchester City vs Sunderland (12:45) The early kick off this weekend sees premier league champions Man City face a very solid Sunderland side, who under Martin O’Neill are playing well. Sunderland fans and players will be getting disappointed at the number of draws they are having so early on in the season, and they will be hoping that in this game with a bit of luck they can use last week’s win as a platform to snatch another. Man City have also drawn a few games already this season which will be annoying Mancini, especially as it leaves them 4 points off top spot. This is a home game for Man City where they really cannot afford to… more
