Abort, Retry, Fail? Episode 24: The new ones

ARF 24 snippet

I felt it was time to actually do the new characters, so seeing as I had a break from exams I cracked on with it. It’s harder than it might seem! Seriously. I wasn’t procrastinating or anything… Speaking of procrastinating, I shouldn’t have hooked my Xbox up to Xbox Live during exam time. Work load = bugger all. I’m now back on Mass Effect 2, an addiction I thought I had beaten. I was wrong. Lair of the Shadow Broker is so damn good. And I also want The Old Republic. So very, very badly. However, I am a student, and with my Mass Effect 3 pre-order sitting in my wallet there is no way I can afford it… yet. Once… more

Well kiddies, this one speaks for itself, so I’ll just say this: stay responsible this Christmas! Not that I will. I intend to get absolutely hammered, but that’s just me. more

ARF 23 snippet

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Let’s pretend I wasn’t absent as long as I was, because if I want to maintain credibility as an artist I can’t admit that I missed three weeks of comics. However, as I just bought Skyrim, there is no way in hell I’ll be doing anything else. Well, except for my coursework… damn, I hate coursework. On a side note, I loved drawing Tom in this comic. He seems crazier than he is, but I can imagine him in this type of situation. And just so you know, I am working on some new characters. Whether or not they’ll be ready by the time I do another comic – I may well not do… more

ARF 22

Could this be the beginning of a possible revamp of ARF? Why, maybe it could. I’m going to give it a regular setting and as you can see I’m going to try doing my own backgrounds, though as you can tell I need a lot more practice. As an announcement I’d like to say that I am really hard pressed to keep up with the two weekly commitments I have on the site (I Am Error and this comic series) because of my university workload, my job, random stressful crap with the people around me and the fact that I haven’t been getting real sleep for weeks. Hell this comic took me about ten hours to churn out, not counting… more

ARF logo edit 2

You know what was weird? The entire time I was drawing this, all the LoadingReadyRun I was watching was preceded by the live-action Skyrim trailer. It was as though the internet knew what I was doing and purposefully provided me with an image of good ol’ Dragonborn in case I forgot what his helmet looked like. Is anyone else looking forward to Skyrim? It comes out on my payday. Temptation abounds aplenty now that I’ve learned this. But I shall resist… I hope. I’m saving up for the massive edition of Mass Effect 3 (as if you didn’t know I was going to say that) and possible The Old Republic, which I just cannot seem to tear myself away from.… more

ARF 20

Woo! Twenty comics. I know it’s not a major milestone, but if you knew me you’d understand that I hardly ever stick with anything. Hell, in a few weeks I might completely hate my current university course and want to change (not that I could) – though that’s unlikely, seeing as Ancient History is awesome. But yeah, when I hit the fifty comics mark, there will be celebration. And cake. Cake is always good. As you can clearly see above, I have heard about the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Now, before anyone says anything, yes, I am aware that the multiplayer is a seperate co-op experience (or so they tell us, but I have my doubts); I just think that this… more

Abort, Retry, Fail? Filler 1

ARF Filler 1.

Sorry for the filler art, but I have had almost no time to finish an actual comic. However, one will be up next week – hopefully- so you should be appeased. Don’t ask why I used this character, it started off as a random doodle thanks to my many, many viewings of Game of Thrones (an unbelievably awesome series that all of you shall watch. That is not a request, that is an order!) and spiralled out of control from there. I like it, but… well, I had to show you something, otherwise the Overlords of TSR (Elliot, Sep and Oliver, or Lord Deathclaw, Duke Venomsoul and Dark Priest Trelgar, as I like to call them) would kill me and… more

ARF 19

This is the first comic I have done without doing a pencil sketch beforehand, so obviously I saved a bit of time. Do you think it looks any different? I can’t see much difference, which is good, as without a scanner in my flat I’d be pretty screwed if I needed to scan a pencil sketch in. I also realize that Sep doesn’t do very well in these comics. Zombified, molested by a Lambent Beserker… It’s like a running pattern that Sep is the one to get killed. He also ended up in Slytherin, which isn’t a very good thing. Sorry Sep! more

I can’t really explain why I thought this would be a good idea, but it seemed like it at the time. See if you can spot where all the references come from. They aren’t too difficult. If this crossover was actually created… I would probably watch it. Just for the giggles, I think. Or maybe it’s just because it’s Star Wars themed, and I love Star Wars. If I could afford The Old Republic, I would get it, but unfortunately living on a student budget has kind of put a stop to that. I could transfer to DC Universe Online, which is going entirely free to play, but I don’t have any desire to run around with all the cheap… more

This comic should have been up last week, but mechanical failure prevented me from scanning it, and I was delayed. Which, unfortunately, may happen again, seeing as this weekend I will be uprooting myself and moving to Nottingham, flying south for the winter. I will endeavour to do articles and comics before I move, but preparations for the move may get in the way of that. I will do my best to get something up next Wednesday, but if I can’t do it, maybe I can convince a colleague here at TSR to do a guest-strip. Who knows? In other news: I don’t own Dead Island, but if someone came to me and said: “There’s this nice resort with sun, sand… more
