Considering Thatcher won each of her general elections ('79, '83 and '87) years before she introduced the poll tax to either Scotland or England and Wales, your point seems rather silly. Now, if you'd argued that the electoral system used for UK general elections (first past the post) means that political parties can win majorities in the House of Commons, and thus form governments, by only winning a minority of the vote - in some cases as little as 35% of it (the Labour Party, UK General Election, 2005) - and therefore in theory (and in reality during Thatcher's premiership) that the other 65% could have hated her, then you'd have a sound point. Compound this with the understanding (supported by copious polling analysis from the past 60 years) that a highly conservative demographic is the elderly and that typically the younger you are the more liberal your political outlook is (there's even a Churchill quote for this), then you could see that many of those who will have voted Thacther in on three consecutive occasions will now be dead, while those who disliked her at the time will still be kicking about, and you provide a polite and respectful retort to Dom's understandably indignant comment about how he does not see why people hate/d Thatcher. But, that's just me. You can stick to misinformation if you like.

He continues to donate money, time and (possibly most importantly) publicity to Alzheimer's charities and events
Other than touat, a well-written summary, thank yu

Erm, Dom, Thatcher, like all governments, massively manipulated the electoral system. Many would-be labour voters did not even register to vote as it was the only way to avoid paying the (for them, unaffordable) 'poll tax'.

I don't see why everyone hates Thatcher so much when it was the society and culture of the time that elected her to be the Prime Minister... THREE TIMES consecutively. People are directing all their hate at her when really they're annoyed at the society of the time for wanting somebody like her in power, because they knew very well who they were electing and what she stood for.
I don't see why she - or why anybody else, in fact - needs a state funeral.

I realise that this interview is a year old, but it is never to late to say that this is possibly the worst interview I have ever had the displeasure of reading. I post this comment only in the hope that James Harle takes the feedback on board.
